As all players will need to play/study demos at some point, here is the easiest ways to do so:-

To be able to be played within Quake Live, demos need to be stored in:-

C:\Documents and Settings\XXX\Application Data\id Software\quakelive\home\baseq3\demos

Where XXX is your Windows username/login. If you start a Windows Explorer (Start, All Programs, Accessories) and cut/paste the below line into the Address box and press enter.

%AppData%\id Software\quakelive\home\baseq3\demos

To play the demos:-

If you use FireFox - go to:-

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/14318

And install the Quake Live Demo Player addon, restart FireFox - the Demo Player will appear with the Game Settings menu etc.

Otherwise, use this:-

http://www.quakelive.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32434

Full instructions are included in the post, although there is a litle mistake, it is %AppData% NOT %Application Data%. This is the one I personally use.

If you have any problems getting demos to run, then please ask and I will try and help.

EDIT:

Here is my key binds config for controlling demos, speed up, slow down, pause, etc.:-

mediafire.com ?wjydjmrjzmi

Pleae make a backup of any binds you have before running this. Put it in:-

%AppData%\id Software\quakelive\home\baseq3

Go console in a demo and type exec demo.cfg

i found another easy way to watch demos and play offline without any connection http://code.google.com/p/quakeliveoffline/
it has all the basic functions of QL and offers easier methods of playing custom maps and watching demos Smile

yeah nice one its REALLY usefull to be able to check them offline! Very Happy good stuff

i will still keep the other one too because if i press anything including my volume buttons it ends the demo Sad and i cant even check the scores. not that this outweighs the benifit of the ease and the offline features it brings.

nice one okushama!

sad news, since the latest update Quake Live Offline no longer works (unless you have backup baseq3 directory) to top that, it looks like id have taken down the google code QLo app as its unloadable now, im working on editing the hex to get it to work again, luckily the error message is rather specific so gimme some time Smile
