Improving FPS & Graphics Card Performance on less powerful graphics cards on Fri Apr 02, 2010 6:25 pm

Always check what the original value is, by using the variable (no set in front) without a figure and note it down!!!
Quake Live settings to increase FPS performance:-
set cg_drawfps "1" - Shows fps (frames per second) rate. You need this to start with...
set r_subdivisions 80 - Makes curves into straight lines, gives a performance boost.
set r_fastsky 1 - Replaces the skyboxes with black textures.
set r_enablePostProcess 0 - Removes the snazzy light effects from the game, big performance boost
set r_vertexlight 1 - Degrades lighting quality for better performance, currently has conflicting settings on some maps so not recommended.
set r_dynamiclight 0 - Removes the light given off by projectiles, gives a very small performance increase, only use if they actually distract you
set r_ColorBits "16" - Reduce colours used to 16, normal 32, reduces graphics quality for FPS boost.
set r_TextureBits "16" - Reduce texture colours used to 16, normal 32, reduces graphics quality for FPS boost.
set r_swapinterval "0" - disable vsync
